Hiring just the right housekeeper can be life-altering for the busy family. Now this may seem to be a little over-the-top, but I am serious. Think about your life-whether single, a couple or a family-you have no time. No time to keep your home as organized or clean as you would like. No time to do the smaller tidying jobs that would make a huge difference.
Maybe you struggle to fold laundry, clean ovens and counter tops, or scrub bathrooms. Maybe you need to clean your house fast for a party, need a hotel maid to help scrub motel rooms, or are looking for a professional to help with hospital housekeeping.
It seems cliched to say it, but often we let things slip through the cracks. We spend too much time thinking about them, too much energy worrying about them. You deserve a house cleaner or home maker to make your life easier. You deserve professional house cleaning, or a dedicated housekeeper.
And here enters great housekeeping. Now to be realistic, all relationships whether working or personal, have a starting point, and with the right match, can grow into something much more. It is certainly so with a new housekeeper. You look for certain qualities in a person, offer them a job and hope that it was a good choice.
I went to the opinions of my friends. I asked each of them the same question. “What is the one quality that you would have to have to see when hiring a new housekeeper?” Below, I’ve distilled down their answers.
My friend Wendy said that everyone can clean but the first thing she wants to know is whether the lady is CRB checked and insured, for cleaner’s protection as well as hers.
Another friend of mine, Militsa, says she would look at the cleaner and see whether she vacuums under the beds because vacuuming is just the start of the cleaning process and removing the dust is essential so that the real cleaning can start. If a lady hoovers under the beds that means she is keen in reaching all the stubborn areas of dust.
Laura on the hand is very interested in housekeepers to know their equipment. She told me a horrible story of how her last cleaner did not noticed that the vacuum-cleaner’s filter needs to be changed and of course the vacuum burned out 🙁 The new housekeeper told her this and said that this vacuum was never good enough for the specifics of her rags. So the new lady told Laura exactly what specifications a new vacuum-cleaner must have so that it does the job required. Laura said she wants to keep this lady for good 🙂
And, of course Emma, she says that she wants things done exactly the way she wants it and apparently the quality to listen is something that only exists in the highest quality of housekeepers 🙂 She expects the housekeeper to have ability to take direction and take initiative to interpret each situation.
Ann admits she is looking for a quality housekeeper who pays attention to even the slightest details. “They are there to make my life easier and run smoothly, so it’s vital that the patterns of my home are followed and respected.”
What said was said and I’ve come to the conclusion that everyone have their unique expectations on what qualities the great housekeeper should have. One evening my husband and I put the kids to bed and sat down and discussed everything I have found out. So, we’ve developed a unique training program (took us few years to twitch it here and there 🙂 ) and at the end of which our representatives become “great” rather than “good” housekeepers with unique qualities and attention to detail.
We are happy to share them with you and make your life easier! Please do contact us and we will match you with the best helping hand!
When we test our cleaners at the end of our training programme I always ask my mum to observe as well because of her huge experience in the field 🙂
